Light

One of the most crucial parts of your car is your headlights. Without them, you simply cannot see at night. Without lights, you put yourself and others in danger.  However, lights do not have to be out to be ineffective. Lights, over time, become dim as the plastic that houses the light degrades. When a headlight dims, it becomes harder to see, and others on the road are in danger because they need to see your lights at night.

Can Anyone See You Coming

As a Christian, your light can fade over time. Jobs, sickness, hurt, and brokenness all can endanger yourself and others. The world needs to see the Christian because the world is exceedingly dark. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house”  Matthew 5:14-15.

Routine Maintenance

The Lord’s church is not dark, and it is not faded. Individual Christians will enjoy this blessing as long as they continue to stay near the source of light. John wrote, “And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” 1 John 1:5. We all need to practice routine maintenance, not only on our vehicles but our spiritual lives as well. We check our lights, air pressure, oil level, and other things to make sure our vehicles remain in working order. What about the light that we reflect from Christ? Are we checking our prayer life, our Bible study, our works of service, our common love, and our fellowship among other needs? These are essential to our own salvation but also to so many more who are not Christians yet.

Restoration is Needed

A Christian must reflect the glory of God with a bold, yet loving, proclamation of the Gospel. If your light has become faded over time, be restored today to the brightness that God has called you. He loves you, and He wants your life to reflect His love for you. Let the light of God shine through your good works here and around the world.
