All Abortion is Murder

"And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."  Genesis 2:7

“and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:7

At the time I am writing this week, the Supreme Court of the United States has heard arguments regarding an abortion law in the state of Mississsippi which prohibits abortions from being performed after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This case will likely challenge the legal precedent of Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion in this nation. After two and a half hours of oral arguments on Wednesday, the fate of this law, and perhaps the complete legality of abortion in our nation, is going to be reviewed by the 9 justices of the highest court in this land. A decision will likely come sometime in the Spring of 2022. What we must do now is pray. We must also study, and we must teach others to value life at all times. We must accept the reality.

The Reality: Whole Cities Wiped Off the Map

In the year 2017, this nation had 862,300 babies murdered by surgical/medical abortions. While some will put a positive spin on this and say this is the lowest since the 1973 ruling, all abortion is murder. To put that in perspective, 353,000 people have died this year with Covid-19. I pray that this is unsettling for you because we have seen our society jump through hoop after hoop to try to slow the spread, but yet more babies are ruthlessly torn from the womb than there are people in cities such as San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO. What if we humbled ourselves before the Lord? What if we prayed to God, crying out to Him humbly for the end of this horror? What if we took action in the way we ought to reach those in our influence?

The Reality: The Soul is Given from God

We need not spend our efforts lobbying politicians, making posters, and protesting. We need to take more time studying and teaching others. When I look at the Word of God, I notice there is a great value attributed to the human life. I see from Gen. 2:7 that as Jehovah formed the first man He breathed into him the breath of life and he became a living soul. Solomon added, in Eccl 12:7. that the origin of the soul is from God. At conception, the Lord sends your soul into your body that is formed though dependent on your mother. However, you are distinct from your mother for you are a separate soul. David wrote, “For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb” (Psalm 139:13). From this, we learn that David's existence did not occur once he breached the birth canal, but rather from his beginning. This is because a human without the spirit is dead (cf. Jam. 2:26).

The Reality: God’s view of Life

We also can consider the fact that God views the babe in the womb as He views those outside of the womb. Brother Garland M. Robinson remarked, “The Bible speaks of the unborn child in the womb in the same words as it does the child after birth. Luke 1:41,44 uses the word "babe" to describe the unborn child in Elizabeth's womb. The word "babe" is also used to describe Jesus immediately after He was born (Luke 2:12,16). The Bible makes no distinction between the unborn (Luke 1:41,44), infants (Luke 18:15) and toddlers or young children (Acts 7:19; II Timothy 3:15)!”

The Reality: Teach What God Teaches

Abortion is always murder, and we, as God’s children, must be willing to teach such. We must teach it to our sons and daughters that abortion is not an option. We must stress abstaining from fornication. We must value the life of those inside the womb and all who are outside the womb, from 2 weeks to 90 years old. May we never do that which the Lord has said He hates; He hates hands that shed innocent blood (cf. Prov. 6:16-17). Pray brethren that this message will reach as many as we can. Abortion will not end with a ruling, it will end when godly men and women will say enough is enough. The reality is abortion starts and stops with the individual. Abortion is always murder.

Grace and Peace.
